There was a choice between writing a simple application to report to the sales staff and implementing a web based Business Intelligence tool. Since most current reports are written by department experts or IT Business Analysts it made sense to implement Business Objects Web Intelligence for the Sales staff.
Implementation was slowed because of issues with the Webi software on Solaris. Working closely with Business Objects Support we identified the problem. A patch was released which repaired the problem.
Reporting can now be done but the Sales staff from their mobile office. The internal users will now migrate all reports to Web Intelligence. The Data Warehouse with a real-time feed from the business system keeps the business at an advantage with up to date reports.
