The Manufacturing Quote application was becoming web enabled which required 24 by 7 acces the worldwide sales force. Unfortunately the backend resided on a Windows/Oracle server which was prone to down time.
FLCC was asked to find a more stable replacement for the data. Our experience with Sun/Oracle/Veritas was used to implement a backend Database server for this application. Using an older decommissioned Storage Array and new servers the performance was stellar but capacity was soon expected to be overcome.
In a second phase of the project we replaced the older Storage Array with a fiber based storage subsystem allowing space for the application data to grow into the next few years. The system has not had unplanned downtime in over 2 years.
